RAVES Self Defence in the City
When fight or flight meets fabulous.
While walking home after one too many cosmos last night, I couldn’t help but wonder… would having self defence training protect me from a potential after-dark attack? Every Tom, Dick and Carrie knows that it would, and RAVES Self Defence is set to give you an essential safety rundown over cocktails and canapés on June 21!
From 6-9pm at Darling & Co., Queensland Police ex-detective, author and 25-year personal protection expert Erin Cash will put her money where her mouth is by showing you how to properly deck a perp.
Both women and men are welcome to join in on the self defence extravaganza on the year. As for what to expect – think MET Gala meets punching someone in the face. This year’s theme is sex-in-the-city‘fabulous’.
Chuck on your high heels (the perfect self defence weapon as learnt from Shrek the Third), have a bit of fun in the photo booth, win a few prizes, and most importantly, learn how to protect yourself from strangulation, weapon attacks, abduction and sexual assault.
Seriously, we shouldn’t be afraid to stroll through our own damn streets, and it’s time to take back the night!
All the RAVES elements of self defence, but this time in a pair of heels, with a cocktail in your hand.
Wear: Something fabulous darling
When: Friday evening, 6-9pm, 21st of June 2019
What: Cocktail, canapés, prizes and RAVES self defence
What it is not: Martial Arts
What it is: Biomechanics, criminal law and a lot of laughs
They say you learn martial arts if you do it 10 000 times over a period of 10 years. But if you play, your brain and body programs for recall within 3-9 loud, exaggerated movements. And you have a ticket to the RAVES playground of personal protection and empowerment. Stomp, shout and thrash about and awaken your dormant survival instincts to embody the super human you have always been.
How to defend against strangulation, being dragged into a car, defence against knives and kidnapping, and the tricky one: how to defend against sexual assault.
This is real life self defence in the most real life (albeit glamorous) setting in Brisbane CBD.
Grab your peeps, wack on some lipgloss and dust off those shoes that have been boxed and screaming for a night out. Nobody leaves Baby in the corner, not while you could be having #SelfDefenceintheCity.
Join Erin with a cocktail on arrival, a steady stream of hot, crispy canapés, and printed photos to remember your grand entrance to empowerment at our photo booth.
